Common Causes Of Infidelity

Lack of appreciation is one of the common causes of infidelity and a convenient rationalization when people engaged in the act of cheating. When cheaters feel unappreciated and unloved, they will seek love and attention from someone else who can give them that fuzzy feeling that is missing from their partners.

Therefore, it is not uncommon for cheaters to even blame their partners for causing them to cheat. They may reason that because of a lack of attention from their own partners, they are “forced” to turn to someone else to get that love. No matter what justification cheaters may have, the fact is there is a perceived lack of appreciation from the person that matters. Because of that seemingly lack of appreciation, cheating results to fill that void.

A Need To Feel Young

Apart from a lack of appreciation, a desire to feel young is also another cause of infidelity. As a person ages, at times there is a mid-life crisis that emerges. Baldness, grey hair and wrinkles are noticeable signs of aging that may put a person into fearful mode for what they are becoming. When an opportunity comes along to make them feel young again such as an affair, they will jump at the chance.

To many cheaters, an affair is a rejuvenating experience. It uplifts their self-esteem and makes them feel alive. Growing old also means a decrease in attractiveness. Thus, having an affair gives such a cheater an assurance that he is still attractive and worthy of love. For those who are still young, low self-esteem such as this also gives a reason to cheat to reassure themselves of their own self-worth.

Attachment To Another

Forming a bond or attachment with someone outside the primary relationship can easily happen and this is also one of the common causes of infidelity. Think of co-workers who work together for long hours everyday and you will be able to picture an affair happening.

This is because the opportunity is there to talk and form an emotional bond with someone else that genuine care results. From there, infidelity is just a step away, especially if there is something lacking in the primary relationship.
