Did He Cheat?

If you find yourself asking did he cheat, it is usually because you are not sure what to make of certain signs or change in behavior from your partner. Bear in mind that sometimes what seems to be signs of cheating do have innocent explanations behind them. So, you do need to be extra careful before making any accusations.

Generally, a long drawn out affair will be discovered sooner or later. It is hard for your partner to hide a long term affair from you because of the need to constantly make excuses to leave home. Add in the phone calls, text messages, bills, constant lies, and many other issues that will crop up with a long term affair, you are bound to find out about the cheating in due course.

Instead, what is difficult about the question did he cheat is when your partner engages in one night stands. This can happen when your partner is supposedly out with friends, away on business trip or whenever there is a chance to cheat and get away with it. Such encounters are hard to find out because they happen infrequently or rarely, as opposed to a long term affair which has become sort of a permanent fixture in a cheater’s life.

However, you can find out about your partner’s one night stands if you are alert and paying full attention to the subtle signs that he may be giving away. Rely on your gut instinct and watch his body language carefully after a suspected night out. Other signs to look out for include:

Reluctance to talk about the time away
Switching subject of conversation abruptly when you bring up that “sensitive” topic
Avoiding eye contact to simple questions on who, what, when and where concerning that night
Wanting to try new sexual positions or acts learned from that encounter
Signs of guilt

It is indeed harder to find out if your partner has cheated if all he has done is just to have a fling or two. But there are also times when a cheater can be careless, even if he only engages in one night stands on an infrequent basis. Missing condom, smell of perfume, lipstick stain, motel receipt, and other obvious clues can all point to his indiscretion.
