Catching a cheater can be easy, or hard. Some cheaters can be extremely cautious that they will  leave few clues behind while others will drop enough hints to let you see the complete picture easily without much of an effort on your part.

But generally, most cheaters will intentionally hide what they are doing behind your back. They will also try to be as careful as they can be. Therefore, in order to catch a cheater, you too need to be as shrewd and cunning as he is.

For a start, never show that you are beginning to feel suspicious of his behavior. Learn to control your emotions and pretend that everything is well. You should never let a cheater suspect that you are looking for proof of the cheating. Otherwise, he will be even more careful that you will not be able to find anything concrete to confirm  your suspicion.

Secondly, be prepared to invest in some tools that will help you to catch him cheating. This is not to say that it is a must, but it helps when your partner is being very careful. Thirdly, try to make a cheater talk. If a cheater is being careful, you can bet that every shred of evidence will be destroyed before he comes home. So, even if you rummage through the cheater’s belongings, you won’t find anything that will point to an affair going on.

Therefore, talk to him instead. Try to get your partner to converse with you about his day. Do it like a casual routine conversation. For instance, if your partner tells you that he has to make a 4-day business trip, call his office after he is gone and make inquiries. Just come up with a good excuse about why you are calling and you will be able to find out if he is indeed scheduled for a 4-day trip away or shorter.

Sometimes, physical evidence is easy to hide and erase, but not lies. Not everyone can lie convincingly and you just have to be alert to everything that was said. Then, slowly pick through the words and if there are gaps or inconsistencies that cannot be explained away, then those are good areas to start an investigation.

Lastly, if all else fails or you are unwilling to take the risk, then get a private investigator. It is expensive, but it should be able to get you the proof you need if your partner is indeed cheating.
