In addition, you will also probably notice an increase in calls that go unanswered when the two of you are together. Instead, sending text messages becomes a common sight because it is a perfect way for a cheater to communicate even when you are around. Alternatively, your partner may start to spend more time on his personal cell phone than before when the practice was to use the home phone. To prevent you from hearing his phone calls, there may also be a tendency now to talk in the garden rather than inside the home.

You can probably guess who is on the other line if you pay close attention to your spouse’s expression when he answers a call or reads a text message. People who are cheating sometimes purchase a pre-paid, disposable cell phone card or pager which they believe will facilitate private calls and communication. They may hide the new phone from you or they give an excuse for needing two phones. If phone cards or a new phone begin to make an appearance, recognize this as typical cheating spouse signs.

Phone usage and incoming calls are not so obvious signs of cheating although they provide you with the means to observe for irregularities. You may be able to obtain text messages and phone numbers to get more conclusive proof of cheating going on but if you cannot, paying close attention to your spouse’s phone usage might just be enough for you to decide if further investigation is warranted.
